Mixed-Media Memorial Wall Art

Constellation of Her
2024
Wood, resin, pigment

Constellation of Her is a mixed media memorial artwork built from resin circles arranged within a black wooden frame. Each circle carries its own texture, tone, and quiet presence. Several are infused with Ally’s ashes, held within resin that softens and suspends the particles. The variations inside each circle feel both intimate and expansive.

The circles shift between soft metallics and muted neutrals, creating a constellation-like rhythm across the surface. Their arrangement invites slow looking, with small changes in light revealing new relationships between the forms. The dark wood base grounds the composition and gives the resin circles a sense of weightlessness against the structure.

This piece is part of my ongoing exploration of memorial art and how materials can hold memory and connection without relying on overt symbolism. It’s a quiet tribute, built from the belief that love can be carried forward through the things we make with our hands.
